Overdraft Protection
Overdraft Protection

Protects you from “bounced” check fees and embarrassing check card rejections

Choose from three types of accounts to use as your overdraft protection sources

If you write a check or authorize a transaction and you don’t have enough money in your checking account, a transfer from your overdraft protection source(s) will be used to cover the transaction. Your membership savings account is automatically assigned as your overdraft protection source when you open any checking account. You can switch your overdraft protection source to another account or add additional overdraft protection sources at any time.

Features
  • Transactions that can trigger an overdraft transfer include checks, check card transactions, ATM withdrawals, and authorized automatic payments.
  • Membership savings accounts, secondary savings accounts and Visa credit cards can be used as overdraft protection sources. To switch from the default of your membership savings account to another overdraft protection source, or to add additional overdraft protection sources, open that account or contact us.
  • Savings accounts are regulated by Federal Regulation D allowing no more than six (6) electronic transfers per month including overdraft transfers. An unlimited amount of overdraft transfers are allowed on a Visa credit card up to your available credit limit.
  • On ATM transactions only: When your ATM withdrawal triggers an overdraft transfer, your receipt will show a negative balance because the transfer happens immediately after the transaction. Following this receipt, an ATM balance inquiry will show a balance of zero in your checking account. If or when your available overdraft funds are exhausted (no more available cash in your savings or no more available credit on your card) then the ATM withdrawal request will be rejected.
  • On checks, check card transactions, and automatic payments only: If or when your available overdraft funds are exhausted (no more available cash in your savings or no more available credit on your card) then Elevations may elect to cover your transaction using Courtesy Pay at our discretion.
