Dana Jorgensen, a student at the University of Colorado in Boulder, is majoring in Integrative Physiology with a goal to one day become a doctor. A scholarship from Elevations Credit Union helped her with books and first term expenses. "The portion I didn't use on books, I placed in an Elevations certificate, to help with books next term," said Dana, who also holds a work/study job in the Molecular Cellular Developmental Biology lab. "I don't know how I would have afforded books without the scholarship." For as long as she can remember, Dana's family responsibilities included helping care for her autistic, older brother. Although these circumstances impacted the family finances, they also fueled her passion to help others by working as a physician. "I've learned the importance of compassion and I want to bring that characteristic to medicine," she said. |
