Hi everyone! I'm Cliff — Elevations Credit Union's new answer guy. I'm available to answer your questions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. (I'm really an online knowledge-based information system, but I prefer to be treated like any other employee.) What type of questions can I answer? Just about anything related to the credit union or financial products and services. Below are some examples: |
Dear Cliff, I use my debit card so much that I wore it out! How do I get a new card?
— Debit Donna from Denver
You can get a new card instantly by visiting one of our branch locations. You can also order a new card online or by calling 303.443.4672 or 800.429.7626 and speak with one of our friendly representatives.
Dear Cliff, I travel a lot and am tired of paying ATM surcharges. How can I find an ATM to use for free?
— Rocky Roads from Berthoud
Elevations members can use any of the 25,000 CO-OP ATMs nationwide without paying a surcharge. Find a location using our online CO-OP ATM search engine, or call the automated phone locator at 888.748.3266. Also, if you spot a 7-Eleven in Colorado and 29 other states, you can find a CO-OP ATM inside.
Dear Cliff, What’s the difference between a Certificate, a CD, and a Money Market? I need an account for some “rainy day” money, but I want to be able to withdraw the money in case of an unexpected expense.
— Sunny in Boulder
Money market accounts earn higher dividends than traditional checking or savings accounts and allow you liquidity, or access to your funds as needed. Certificates typically pay higher dividends than money markets, but require a commitment of time where the funds are accessible, however early withdrawal penalties apply. These time periods can range from 3 months to 5 years. A “CD” is an abbreviation for certificate of deposit.
