New scholarship fund supports local 'dreamers'

We’re excited to share some inspiring news — the launch of the Dreamers Elevated Scholarship Fund, created through the Local Change Foundation to support post-secondary education for Dreamer Scholars from the “I Have A Dream” Foundation of Boulder County. 

Elevations Credit Union is proud to be part of this effort by matching every donation made through Dec. 31 2025, up to $50,000. That means every dollar you give goes twice as far in helping Dreamer Scholars pursue their college and career goals. 

The “I Have A Dream” Foundation of Boulder County provides long-term academic, social, and emotional support to students from elementary school through college. Their holistic approach helps students navigate life’s challenges and build a strong foundation for success — and this scholarship fund is a powerful extension of that mission. 

“This scholarship is a powerful example of what we can accomplish together,” said Jennifer Hinderliter, executive director of the Local Change Foundation. “We’re helping Dreamer Scholars take the next step in their educational journey and empowering them to change the world.” 

Selected students will receive a scholarship starting at $2,000, with future awards increasing as the endowed fund grows. All contributions go directly to the scholarship — no administrative fees are taken by Local Change. The scholarship is available for students pursuing traditional higher education or trade schools in Colorado or beyond. 

It’s important to note that this initiative is separate from the Dreamer Scholar Sponsor program and does not qualify for the Colorado Child Care Contribution Tax Credit.
